I had my lovelies in small containers while I was constructing their new enclosures... One of them molted and now has some serious disabilities... I fed half a cricket last night by hand. She is too disabled to move more than her mandibles, one claw and the feet on two legs. I checked on her this morning to find a wet brown spot around her head, as if she had vomited the cricket juice up. This doesn't seem hopeful.... :(

I'm sorry, Kaddock... it doesn't sound good. :( She might hang on a day or two more, but likely will die. You might want to consider the freezer for her. But definitely get your larger enclosures/containers together, and your other Bleph's in them now before you have more casualties. Best of luck... :)

How long after the molt did you feed? I always wait at least 24 hours.

it was several hours, but not a whole day. i will continue to feed, but i don't think it's gonna make a difference... she couldn't hold on to anything if she did make it to the next molt.

There is no need to feed that soon after a molt. It had nothing to do with your case but just putting it out there.

thanks Rick.

Do mantids frequently vomit when they are dying after a mismolt? Mine is, and it's been a lot!

I'm putting her in the freezer today... This just seems pointless, sorry little one...
