Never bred this species before. Is this ooth extra long or is that normal?

I have no experience, but any ooth as long or longer than the mantises abdomen is huge in my opinion. Wow!

Looks a bit large. The smaller ooths are usually fertile.

Nice images! Your female looks huge. Let's hope the ooth is fertile.
She's a big girl. 3" exactly but she was really swollen so I was relieved that she finally laid. Was about to re-mate her when she started. If this ooth isn't fertile the next one will be, and I have another female I'm considering breeding. Just don't know if the demand is great enough.

Here check this link out (page three)http://www.ukmantisf...ta-again-3.html

I may be wrong but check it out anyways.
I've heard of the big ooth not always being the best one before as you pointed out, there also seems to be something about 1st ooths not always hatching many or none for that matter? But on the other hand one of my Idolo's laid the biggest ooth I've ever seen, it was her 1st one and 77 nymphs poured out of it, so you just never know.

Very true. I was just speculating.

Henry: You posted some really fine looking images from both handsome species. If you end up with any extra oothecae of the Deroplatys lobabta species, I might be a buyer, if you can let me know a price,if and when.

I want those, too

Both requests added. Thanks. I always feel a little better knowing I have some potential sales lined up.
