Hi Everyone,

I posted recently about another Taiwan Flower Mantis of mine, this is about her sister. She and another sister molted to adulthood a couple nights ago, one successfully, and another not. Here are some photos, first Desdemona, she did fine:

Her sister molted a few hours later, but it looks like the fluid that was supposed to be pumped through her wings instead pooled up around a puncture in her wing, making a bubble. Also, her wings all all withered:

It's been about a day, and she's eating already. I don't know if it will affect her health or not, or if that bubble will dry completely. Thought it was interesting however, and I should post.

Sinerely,

Carol A

I had a male Acromantis with the same problem. Instead of the blood being evenly distributed through out the wings, it pooled in one spot. It should dry up on its own. What every you do, do not pop it. If her wings are not fully hardened she could bleed out.

Seen it several times. The bubble will go away and the wings will be messed up. She will be fine.

I just had one of my normal limbata males do that when he molted. The 'blister' on the forewing was smaller...much smaller and burst when he fluttered his wings later that day. A little droplet of fluid came out, but the wing seems fine otherwise.

Thought I would update, the bubble on her wing did pop, but it didn't seem to affect her health. Since then she's been eating well, and was the first to be chosen as a mate for my only male. Here is a current picture:

As you can see her wings are still withered but she is otherwise fine. I think she may make an ooth soon.
