I just opened a long-overdue shield ooth. She was mated twice and the pair remained copulated for around 24 hours each time.

The eggs inside are black. Does this mean they're unfertilized? Parasitized?

In all my years with natives I had never opened an ooth until after it hatched, so I have no experience in the matter.

Thanks ahead of time.

They are dried out nymphs, something went wrong, if unfertile, the eggs would be a yellowish and either still wet or dried out, but not black. Either temps were way off, to dry, to wet, or who knows.

They aren't black nymphs: Just little smooth black cylinders. I keep them at 80F/50-70% humidity. My camera/photography skills are garbage but when I get home I'll try and take a few pictures.
