I think a while back one of my female shields I think got stung by a bee or somehow injured part of her arm as there is a black spot that is right where the claw connects to the elbow or in that area and she drags that arm but she can use it somewhat but mainly keeps it closed and she does open it occasionaly and wondered if anyone else had similar injuries and I dont think I want to amputate since she can open and close her claw but she keeps it closed and just moves around using her other claw but it dont seem to slow her down when she moves and should I be worried or maybe I am hoping this injury may heal a bit on its own or is the injury going to do more harm then good! She still can eat with her good arm though!

sometimes this does not harm them, but usually it does, u will just have to wait and see, if it starts to spread she will probably die, so just watch and see how she does, eating is a good sign.

What makes you think that she was stung by a bee, Paul? Did you see it happen? Have you ever seen a bee sting a a mantis? A good friend of mine once saw a mantis stung by a hornet (it recovered) but that was in a Foreign Land.

I've had mantids do this (never fed bees) and they lived normally or chewed the arm off and lived normally. Only M. religiosa though...
