I've had a
Hierodula membranacea drop dead within hours of completely eating a cinnabar moth? could well be coincidence though as it died in exactly the same way as a mantis eating a "bad" cricket would die and there were crickets in its spacious viv, i just hadnt seen it eat any, (hanging upside down it went completely limp, darkened noticably and later died without falling from its perch)
I read some old literature about
T a sinensis or
angustipennis, cant remember which now? eating milk weed butterfly/moths which are highly poisonous, the mantids took a few bites and promptly rejected them, it was said that they were ill although i cant imagine how you could tell other than vomiting? but none died and all never attempted to catch milk weed
lepidoptera again, learned behaviour !?
I wouldnt worry about your mantis eating a black n white or brown moth, these colours are not normally associated with a poisonous creature which would normally advertise the fact with bright warning colours* and as Christian says they will either eat it or they wont.
*Warning colouration exeption
Bufo marinus the cane toad, there are always exeptions
