My colony of ghost nymps are now molting to adults almost nightly now.I know I need to wait at least 2 weeks to breed them.Just wondering if I need to separate them in a 32oz.cup for 2 weeks or if I can separate the pairs in 2 weeks any experience would be helpful thanks.

I would probabaly seperate them till they are ready to mate. Why risk any of the males getting eaten before mating. Not to mention when you put them together after being solitary for awhile. You might get a better reaction from the males to mate.

When you are at all anticipating a final molt, it is best to separate those mantids, spray their enclosure more often or at least make sure there is plenty of humidity, and it is also recommended by some breeders not to disturb the mantid when it is molting. Make sure there is plenty of vertical space (3x mantid's length for the height of the enclose space with no obstacles in the way).

Good luck!

I think the advice here is sound. However, the joy (for ME) of a colony is NOT separating them. But the risks ARE real, and males getting chomped is common...

Maybe next round, whan you've got 30 or 40 little ghosts, you won't need to be do protective.

Post pics!!!

Thanks every one for the sound advice the only species iv'e bred before is chinese the 2nd month I was into mantids it was successful, but this is important to me with the ghost thank you all
