After searching the forums and messaging a few of the members on this forum, it seems to me that a lot of people are having troubles when it comes to orchid mantis breeding. Mating doesn't seem to be a problem, but it looks like the females are laying messy ooths, or not laying enough foam so that the eggs are sticking out. This seems to be a common problem. Does anyone know why this is happening? Would anyone like to share their success stories/failures? This has been "bugging" me for a while now.

Thanks,

Mr. Mantid

I've had it happen and I honestly don't know why. The first time I kept them I had no issues and was selling ooths here all the time for cheap. But the last time I kept them it was nothing but problems. The mating itself can be a challenge as well. I doubt anyone can really tell you for sure why these things happen. My best advice is to make sure the conditions are as close as possible to their native homes and feed them a proper diet.
