my only Phyllovates female moulted last night, but for some unfortunate reason, the wings were not properly formed (it's fully extended, but they're not enclosed together over the abdomen). Has anyone tried mating with a female like this? Would the male still recognise her?

cheers

Yup! The male recognizes females by their swaying/rocking motion which has nothing to do with wing malformation. The only problem I can think of with wing malformation is that if the wings are really deformed (and in this case, her wings are not), the male may have a little trouble mounting.

The male recognizes her regardless of any swaying or rocking. The wings shouldn't interfere with mating unless they are really deformed. In that case you can trim them but don't cut too close to the body.
