Hey,

I may be getting 5 Brunneria borealis nymphs soon and I was wondering if anyone has tips for keeping them. I know the like to be kept a bit warm, above 26C. How about misting? Do they like it moist or dry?

Also, should I risk keeping them together or split them up right when I get them? They are around L4 I was told.

Thanks!

As long as you give them lots of food and ample space, they are fine together. They like it on the dry side (not too dry!) but need to be misted 1-2 times a day. B)

Be forewarned, this species is VERY timid and freaks out if you touch them too fast! They also each very slow, so if your like me, and like to watch/feed an individual mantis for an hour or so (for fun), be aware that you wont be feeding her too much!

Good luck Giosan. They are not that hard to raise, but for some odd reason my female laid infertile ooths. <_<

Well, just some time ago someone I know claimed that this species is parthenogenetic, hehehe ;)

They are parthenogeic, but I still dont know why I got infertile ooths...they were also pretty small in size.
Yeah it happens, something similar turned out to be the reason of my failure with Blepharopsis - small, strange shaped ooths, and more than that - with almost no eggs inside! Strange...

I had a female last year and she was easy to keep. She laid several ooths. So far none of them have hatched that I know of. Strange since they have to be fertile.
