Does anyone know how long it takes for a male adult bud wing to be ready to mate? Also any breeding tips for bud wings would be appreciated.

2-5 weeks is prime for males i start around 3+ for budwings, and males mature much faster so the last few times I've even cooled the males so the females can catch up,some females are nasty others aren't so you may want to really watch her and feed her during breeding rather than fattening them up before the breed

My female reached adulthood 20 days before the male. In those 20 days she has put on plenty of bulk. Hopefully she isn't ooth bound, I guess I'll cut back her food for the next few weeks. Thanks for the info.

i was able to breed 2 out of 3 of my females. it only took about a week for me. so long as the male is hardened up after his molt, same with the female. i picked up the males and placed them on the females backs. they clung right on. two of the females accepted it. the third didnt. the third had always been very reactive and defensive and i knew shed be trouble. but the the other two it was easy. they allowed it. it usually took 1-3 hours for them to actually penetrate the female. then they would mate for a very long time. nine hours, five hours.

what i did was try to make it as much like itd be in the wild as i could. fan on low for a gentle breeze. heat lamp. big container, or cage. leaves and sticks.

some males are better at it than others, two of mine were champs, the other two sucked, lol

I did manage to get her mated. One out of my three males got the job done. Another one was clueless and the third was eaten by her when I left the room.
