budwing mating

hi my budwing pair just started and is mating as i type!

the male started walking towards the female as soon as he saw her eating and jumped on her.

the female is 15 days old and the male is just 5 days old (opps!) but the male seem quite mature cos as soon as he was on the female's back, he started to mate 5 minutes later.

will the ooth be fertile?

Of course it will be fertile. If they have connected and stay that way for awhile it will be. Mating can last for hours.

If he wasn't mature enough, he wouldn't have hopped on and copulated. Any resulting ooths should likely be fertile.

good news! the male didn't get eaten

they mated for 8-10 hours.

they started mating at 3 pm yesterday and I woke up today at 1 am to realise that the male had disconnected!

can't wait.
