I was taking pics of my cilnia (lol funny story, the first time my mom heard me say "cilnia" she was like "who's nia and why do you want to kill her?")

all was going well

then she got pissed

then she got all up in my face

then this happened

all Cs in latin are pronounced like a K

i dont have any male cilnia so i dont think i'll be able to breed them

i love pnigos cause they r so photogenic

I wasnt aware, and after doing a quick google search and doing some research you are mostly correct. In Classic latin all Cs were a hard C. Medieval latin however apparently developed that a C followed by e/i is actually a CH sound (Like in chuck). Even further, modern latin (As in, latin words used in english/french etc) has further anglicized it and a lot of words will make a soft c (s sound) when followed by e/i.

So you are absolutely correct that true latin every c is a hard c, but today's latin is hardly true latin, and using a soft c isnt incorrect. I would argue the most correct would be to use medieval latin since it is still true latin although having progressed in time, making Cilnia sound like chill-nia.

But this is a thread for your mantids. so I'd rather not get into a debate over it.
