My male mantis had a cricket this morning, and when there was nothing left but the rump, he stopped eating and hung there, so I figure he was resting and digesting. Now it looks like he is going to molt. Is it safe that he is holing something, or will he drop it before he needs to?

Don't worry, mantids arent stupid ;)

He is either just resting and will finish the rest of the cricket later or he will drop the mantis soon. He won't moult that fast after eating, and even if he did, he would drop it anyway.

Thanks. I just checked a minute ago, and he dropped it, and he is now beginning to molt.

Quit worrying about it. He knows what to do.
