Can i Trust LiveMantis.com?

My cousin wants to buy a few mantises (probaly because he's jealous of mine ) and he wants to know if LiveMantis.com is a scam. He says the website where i got mine from, their shipping costs to much. :blink: So i want to see if any of yall got your mantises from LiveMantis.com. Thanks

Can anyone identify the "Color Changing U.S. Native Praying Mantis" that is advertised towards the bottom? I don't think I would ever consider paying $38 PER mantid though. But I would like to know the species.

It's probably just some sort of Stagmomantis. This guy will do almost anything to be able to sell his mantids for a few extra bucks.

I would not, several years ago my father tried to purchase me some Chinese Mantises from that site and not only did my order come with the wrong species and wrong amount (less than were suppose to arrive) they came dead. My dad was trying to order them within a time frame while I was visiting so there was much going back and forth about sending at a time I could actually get them, and a few months of blah we were like give us are money back. We then got some sob story about supposed medical problems. Needless to say I would say steer clear. <_<

I would get them from a breeder on this forum, and if there isnt any right now just wait a little while until they come up. That way you know you wont be getting ripped off, you will get quality insects and customer service.

Not sure if the site is trust worthy or not. I have ordered the mantis ebook. So I will let you know how things go when I see it. I half expect it to be a poor quality copy of the "Keeping Aliens" book. But hoping for the best!

They used too! ha ha, I have it saved on my favorites for a year or so and I check it out every now and then, the price for a mantis has went up 300 % since I save it. ha ha :lol: , I missed my calling. Opps sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, (just in case the person who has the site is on here, and u won't believe this but I think they are) .

Guys, this site isn't a scam I know that for sure. Whether or not you will receive what is described is another story.

I know they have been up for a long time, but don't know if they get much business.

Clearly this guy misrepresents them to make a few extra bucks though

Have you checked the hardware stores for Chinese mantis oothecae? I can find them $10 for 2. Ace Hardware's supplier calls them "egg cases".

Well, I did get a "copy" of the ebook. Its not bad, but not great either. Most of the good info in it is covered well by this site! The book also contains some questionable info as well. The bad part is that I did not get the link for the book until I sent an email asking for it. I had already waited 3 days and it was supposed to be sent in 24hrs. But she did respond to my email quickly!
