Hi all! I am just curious whether a mantis need be facing upward downward or if sideways is possible for them. My mantis really only has three functioning legs and I think she will inevitably be facing upward when she does molt. Keep high hopes, and send wishes for my little friend!

I am not sure which legs exactly your mantis still has but I just had a nymph that lost the back half of both back most legs successfully molt. I was worried she would not be able to hang properly with only the two front back legs but she did it secretly in the night.

I got lucky enough to see my lone male molt into adulthood.  Almost panicked when I realized he was facing the wrong way and would not have room to inflate wings. Quick trip outside with dog and when I had returned he had turned 180 degrees and had plenty of room. Figured hey they have been doing this a long time without my help, lol.
