I realize that even though they are called the ant mantis, they still probably shouldn't be fed ants. But I have never kept this sp. before and I was wondering if anyone had.

I've had ant mantis, they do well on FF's and house flies till sub adult then they can handle BB's without getting dragged all around the enclosure:p

I am not an expert on this breed of mantid, but, as with all feeder insects, it depends on amount fed, species, and what they are "gut-loaded" with. Most ants have a scenter in their abdomen, not sure if this is poisonous to other insects or not, but I've heard that some species of ants may be. Watch out for those jaws, too!
