Just found and feed off a small caterpillar. It was like a writhing water balloon when the mantis hit it. Very gross and messy. He'll be cleaning for hours.
I usually feed my mantids the Cabbage White butterfly caterpillars because the keep eating the lettuce. For me, those caterpillars are a good source of water.
