ive heard some caterpillars are unsafe to feed to mantids because of toxins.. I was curious as it if this one was safe to use as a food source...

turns out I guess my backyard's tree happens to have a couple just hanging around.

 
yep, definitely is... Cool.

yeah I may hold a few and wait until the turn to moths. I found one that's seriously as round and as long as my finger.

thanks for the info, they're not toxic but can cause swelling or irritation.

 
I hope you don't actually hold them lol

I would not feed it, but the mantis has to come across them in the wild so I wonder if the toxins affect them...
