Ok, i was bug hunting a few days back and i came across quite a few of these weird centipedes. They was slim, soft, werent dark red more of a light redish color, and didnt bite.

i found some smaller ones around 2-3 inches and one that was 4 inches, when i find them they are in bark and some under rocks but they are usually curled into knots or bundled up.

BTW, im in San Francisco CA if that might help narrow it down.

the next time i go out looking for them ill keep a few and snap some pictures, id like to maybe keep some, but i have no clue what they eat either, theri heads are very small and as i mentioned earlier they dont bite and i dont see the fangs or pincers.

It's hard to guess from the description but the most common ones around bark and rocks are the rock centipedes, Lithobiomorpha, probably Lithobius sp. If so they'll have 30 legs (15 pair). Scolopendromorpha have 42-46 legs and earth centipedes many more. If you put them with the bark and some damp soil in a cage the organisms on the bark will usually provide a long term food source.
