I went to the NY Reptile Expo today. I just went to look and maybe buy some ff cultures. There was a guy there from Island Reptiles selling some mantids; Ghost and Indian Flower nymphs, he also had an adult Spiny Flower on display. Somehow I ended up buying a subadult Chaco Golden Knee tarantula. I'm guessing it's a male but it's too early to tell. For $40 I couldn't pass him up. I haven't kept T's in many years but this species is as easy going as it gets.

looks like 3"+ legspan, I believe that Chaco is about 5 to 6 months old, I got mine as a sling we've had it for 4 months, it molted on 11-30 and has just over 2.75" legspan. these guys can reach up to 7.5"-8.5". We really like ours, it digs and kicks dirt and remodels it's enclosure, and they are very docile. I haven't heard of anyone being bit by a Chaco.

Good luck

Mine just molted to sub adult but after he ate his first meal he has been acting lathargic and not walking stable i figured the worst when i first saw this behavior but it has been like 2 weeks but still acts the same. got Him like a year ago super small really sad

I'm super jealous, this is the species I would love to get at one point. I know they aren't the flashiest species but I still think they are a very beautiful spider. Plus I love everything I have heard on their temperments being the golden retriever of the tarantual world. XD

It is a super mellow spider. There were plenty of them for sale too, one guy had spiderlings for $5. It was very tempting to grab a bunch of them!

I would love to get a sling at one point since I like watching arthropodes go through the shedding process and go from tiny specks to their eventual adult size.

I raised one from a half inch to subadult. He was totally chill, never once gave me an attitude. After he hit subadult I decided it would be best to sell him to a reputable keeper so he could be used for breeding. Definitely going to get more some day.

I did the same with all the T's I've kept in the past, they all went to breeders to keep the hobby going.
