Hey, just don't make the mistake I did... assuming the ooths I'd found in the wild locally were laid in the last breeding season and viable. Not being an experienced breeder/trader/seller, I sent a bunch of S. carolina ooths to Rebecca (Mantisplace) a couple of months ago, thinking I'd found and was sharing the motherlode. She said she took one look at them and knew they were all old, previously hatched ones, and riddled with wasp holes too! You can imagine how stupid and embarrassed I felt.

Luckily, I'd also sent her a batch of newly laid ones my wild-caught as adult and captive bred females had laid too... which I know should have been fertile, as one I'd kept has hatched. I need to ask her if she incubated any (as opposed to putting them all in diapause) and if she's had any hatch yet.

If you haven't, you may want to examine at them magnified, or post some pics for experienced breeders to confirm they are viable. ;)

nah, these are obviously this year since ooth from last year show darker colors and mishapened and "squishier" though if anyone wants pics i can send you pics. if they dont hatch for you in the long run...we could work something out then

2 carolina mantid ooths left and 4 chinese
