Quick question:

My female T. sinensis called in a potential suitor for breeding last night. I fed her a cicada and she is nice and full. Both the male and female are on a relatively big house plant. She was climbing up and the male was behind her and she spotted him. She started waving her forlegs, moving her abdomen from side to side and turned to face him and moved closer ever so slightly. Now they are looking at each other. The thing is, it was a threat display I'm 100% sure of that. I'm not certain what is happening/what I should do, if anything. Help please.

I've never seen a female do anything upon site of a male other than a threat display. She likely would have had him for lunch, struck at him, or fled. Start over and turn her away from him.

Dude you need to have the female eating while trying to mate her and make sure she is stuffed. Then you take the male on your hand and nudge him gently to the abdomen of the female. The male will sense her with his antennae and then eventually and slowly go on her. Watch them for at least 4 hours straight and make sure nothing happens to them! Also, mate them on a flat surface not the plant. one time I mates my mantises on a stick and one got injured because they fell while struggling.

Now that the night is over I think I can say that was her way of saying I know you're a male but I'm not ready just yet. Because she did this behavior for about 40 mins. She eventually did strike at him and he jumped lower on the plant and she found a place facing him. He didn't move for about 3 hours. I mean motionless. When it got to be dusk, she was moving he slowly crept up and mounted her. And trust me she was full, she ate an entire cicada prior to mating. I recorded some of the behavior, but I don't know how to share videos here... But he moutned her, no issues, mated for 2 hours then hopped off.
