Crane flies as food?

Can these be used as food for a flower mantis?

I've already fed a few and they loved them. But something about feeding them crane flies just seems off. Like kinda sketchy?

There's nothing wrong with feeding craneflies. The females have a decent amount of mass on them for a small to medium-sized mantis, they have no defenses, and they can be easily captured when in season.

Sure. I know those become quite numerous in some locations at certain times of the year. Healthy, wild food and free.
