i went away for 2 days and came back and half of my 2nd instar creobroter gemmatus nymphs had mismoulted and died when moulting to 3rd instar.

i don't get what i did wrong, i misted daily and put in 2 fruit flies daily (unless there was some food left).

i'm guessing the fruit flies knocked them down when moulting but 10/21 is abit strange..

 
I really doubt the food had anything to do with it. Humidity is the most often cited reason.

 
Yes. If you are still getting mismolts with regular misting, try putting some peat moss in as a substrate and keep it wet. I have about 8 4th instar C. gemmatus now, kept under these conditions and have done the same with A. formosana and never had any problems with mismolts. Some folks warn that such high humidity can, of itself cause problems, but decent ventilation takes care of that. Then again, if they did OK during the first two moults, perhaps they just missed you! :D

the ventilation is fine. they've got a mesh lid. i'll get some peat moss :) thanks for the advice.
