Trying go breed the girls, Cleo and Brandy. They have been calling for a month now. Brandy has laid 3 oothecae. Lord Barkiss has been adult male for about 2 weeks now. He just doesn't get it lol. The girls are clearly frustrated :p I will try again at the end of the week. All he does is wander around the girls . He has never even tried an approach. I need Frankenweenie, the male orchid to show him what to do.... :S

Ouch!! Lil sucker pinched me lol. I am putting him in my room for a few days and I will try again. He must not be ready yet... The girls will have to wait LOL

No he started amputating his down arms and part of his raptorial. He seemed to be bleeding from one of those amputations and parts of his body were turning black. I put him in the freezer. It was a sad day. And it was on my birthday.

. Oh no... I will try a few more times with Mr. Crazypants and then I'll send him to you.

That happened to an apicalis male of mine

Pheremone saturation is the likely cause

http://youtu.be/hPOLUk5P_EM Yay!! Skitzo nutball male creo finally connected. Thanks Alex, I did put him in another room last night. When I brought him back in the room today he flew and it took me forever to find the little dickens. I decided after that to put him in the container this time and with Cleo not Brandy and he hopped right on. It has been 2 hours and they are still connected. Cleo just laid her first ootheca this morning right before the mating. Brandy has 4 so far , but of course none are fertile. Whew, now I just have to make sure Cleo doesn't eat him.... Oh and I apologize for the video quality.. I was afraid to move anything and just took it through the plastic..

I'm letting my boy Voodoo read this thread. He is still young but he is hoping to grow into a manly man mantis. I only just realized he is a he and not a she, because I'm horrible when it comes to sexing mantises. Hopefully I didn't scar his tiny ego with constant female pronouns.
