here is one of the 15 L3 Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii tammy sent me
they r sooo cute!!
they r sooo cute!!
8 segments on the bottom of the mantis's abdomen. If it is six then it is a female. I have read that a few species are different.yep, they are awesome. I'm glad you're enjoying yours.
mine are all molting and it's getting harder to feed or mist them without disturbing the lone molter in the past few days.
just a quick question...why do you say it's a male? just what are you looking for to tell the difference?
Harry
I fully understand that happy. it's why I asked, as I only see "about" 6 segments at best in the photos.8 segments on the bottom of the mantis's abdomen. If it is six then it is a female. I have read that a few species are different.
that's what I was hoping you were going to say, as I did see that. thank you for the clarity.look at the bottom pic
there appear to be 2 tiny hairs between the cerci, which are present on a male's subgenital plate
All 8 segments are shown in the pics.that's what I was hoping you were going to say, as I did see that. thank you for the clarity.
Harry
P.S. I'm not sure how others count segments, but even including what is NOT in the photos, I clearly don't count 8...and there are a few missing segments not photographed. *perplexed*
Actually you can only see 6 segments clearly and one little mark in the second pic. But you can there is another segment because there is a lot of room. All 8 segments are shown in the pics.
Do you know what they look like when they are adult?Aw... So cute! They don't look anything like my wild caughts
All of the Stagmomantis carolina I tried to sex at L3 had 8 segments. Some changed to 6 segments at L4.They all appear males lol but they r only L3
Will determine gender when they r a bit bigger
