Dead Leaf Mantis
Okay, so I made another experiment with d. hydei. What I have are what I intended to be normal cultures but it looks like they're going to be a really overpopulated cultures. Maggots are EVERYWHERE!
What you can do with this is make some media and add some maggots in there and wait until they become adult flies. I made these cultures 2 weeks ago so it takes a while to get to this point. This is great if you know you're going to get some mantises next week or your mantises are outgrowing d. melanogaster ("smaller" fruit flies).

By the way, these cultures are in 500ml water bottles with a screen cap. About 1/2 inch on the bottom is the medium (might look less after it gets shaken up by USPS).
