My d lobata (which i recieved to breed her) is 4 months old and has laid one ooth three months ago and hasnt laid any others...once a female is eggbound there isn't much one can do other than increase humidity and temp and hope for the best...but this isn't a classic eggbound case...she is so nice and plump that when she orientates herself in such a manner upside down, her abdomen turns over and creases...it doesnt look healthy and causes me great concern. this may not only be an eggbound female but also a "floppy abdomen" one too...i havent fed her yet (two days since i got her) because 1, she was offered food but didnt accept it, and 2, i dont want her to explode; she is probably the fatest female i have seen in awhile...posted below are some pictures...

All the best,

Andrew

Probably not good my friend, probably not good? She needs to lay and soon, I would keep the males away, raise the temp till she does and have hope. Use warm water to mist her so it doesn't shock her and make her tight'n up her bum. :)

Most likely if the time she should have made an ooth is well passed. I've had this before and I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Provide her with plenty of ooth making spots and maybe increase the temps.

Since I've gotten her (Sunday)....I haven't fed her at all...only given her water and I mixed some yens blend/ flower power with very little water to make almost a sort of paste and fed her a spoon full: honey and pollen are the best ^medicine^...and it's worth a shot...all I need is for her to take some laxatives ;)

As far as temps go I'm keeping her outside (on the porch)...during the day it is around low 90's upper 80's and at night high 70's low 80's...and it is Florida so humidity is always 70%+...and she has plenty of laying spots; before I got her she used to be on display and never moved from one spot, that holds true now...she doesn't move at all...not even to look around... and I will put the males in the garage where it is cooler so the sub adult females can catch up...

Thanks all,

Andrew

I am confused, at first post she laid one ooth and hasnt laid any others, but u just got her sunday, oh , someone sent her and told u about her? she is eggbound and that most likely wont change, if she has had nothing to eat then might as well offer her a superworm or fat worm, may make her poop! With fish a frozen thawed pea with a kernel of epsom salt will make them poop. dont think mantis can have it, but try a grain of reg salt on her worm.

My friend had her at a museum and she laid an ooh there (her first and only one about 3months ago) then this past Sunday I went to him to her so I can mate her with my males and while he took care of her he wrote notes about her (when she hit adult and when she laid her first ooh)...that's where I am today...

Also, she does poop! Like any other mantis...and at about the frequency of any other adult female...

Thanks all,

Andrew
