Should I be concerned as I was observing my thistle nymph today and had a dangling poo on the end of its abdomen and could not get close enough to the mantis to try to remove it and wonder if I should just leave the mantis alone and maybe it will fall on its own as I have had mantids in all walks of life have this same kind of problem and l1s it seems to end up killing them in the end and dont want that to happen to my thistle mantis!I tried to remove it but the mantis scurries away and just wonder if anyone has had or overcame this kind of minor nuisance!

I am afraid to pull, as a couple times I pulled their insides out

, now I mist it a lot and leave alone.

I never need to pull, mist them ought to take care of the problem. Usually a gentle brush on the rear end also knocks it loose. If that doesn't work, squeezing the turdlet with forceps and letting the mantis walk off is usually all that is needed.

With larger insects, pulling has less of a risk of harm.

Also, with grasshoppers I often observe them kicking at the dingleberries. XD

I have also done the same in the past. :( If it does not come off easily enough. I use a warm moist paper towel. I keep dabbing it's butt untill it comes off.
