This is my first attempt at raising mantises. I hatched Chinese mantis (Tenodera sinensis) from 2 ootheca and have 3 mantises. My largest is a good 2 inches long. I've noticed they do tend to change color sometimes, and sometimes when they have recently had a large meal they get dark spots in their abdomen when viewed in the light...I assumed that was their food. My big one had a lacewing and a piece of waxworm plus what ever fruitflies he/she may have caught last night and today his/her whole abdomen is almost black. I just wanted to find out if that's normal? THANKS.

I think I answered my own question ...I moved him/her away from the light, and it wasn't visible anymore... must have just been a trick of the light, lol. but I would still like to know if I can over feed them. THANKS.
