Hi all

I have a deadleaf Mantis which I was told it was Male. However, today I have discovered that it is in fact a Female.

As she has started to lay eggs this morning. This has confused me as see has never bred. Is this normal?

Am I right in thinking the eggs will not be fertile?

Additionally, will her health suffer as a result?

Thanks Jas

That is normal. Mantids will lay eggs whether mated or not. If she has not been mated the eggs will not be fertile.
