So, I'm trying something a little different with the 5.5 gal tank as far as coverage. I noticed the last time I had a decent number of babies of what ever given species, that the more coverage in the tank coupled with flies cut down in a significant way on cannibalism.
Yesterday, I ran out and found this cool artificial vine at a local 99 cent store and today while feeding and misting decided
to arrange them as such. Anyway, while fumbling around I notice "the traveling girl" walking along the edge of the tank all casual like!! I noticed when she climbed the blinds and planted herself upside down on the edge of the window frame. I knew it was below freezing today but my dumb self forgot while she was on the frame. She had been there for maybe an hour or so as I was tackling homework with my boys simultaneously with the tank. Well, I noticed "Brown Bob" looking up at where "the traveling girl" now, "once was!" Okay, I look for her and there she is on the lower window frame lying on her side. Carefully I pick her up and the first thing I thought is she ate a batch of bad flies or the mealworm, etc! Then it hit me as her little body was really cold. I cupped her in my hands and began to warm her with my breath. Then right there in front of me she began to twitch a bit and slowly rose from her side and up on her hind legs and began to clean herself!!!! What a relief!!! OMG, I almost killed you!!! That's it!!! moved the tank to a totally different place where even if they wander there are not too many places for them to disappear off to!! have to be really careful with em when they are as some just sit pretty others are quite the adventurer!!!!!
Lesson well learned!!!
