Hello all, recently I got subadult male and yesterday some L4 nymphs of a creobroter species that some say is pictipennis and others are a bit confused on the ID of

im certain all 12 of mine are all the same species because of a distinct black marking underneath the thorax, i didnt see this in gemmatus so im wondering if it is a species indicator, and im also wondering if anyone else has seen this before

can someone please help clear this up? thanx :)

The species indicator regarding Creo is the pronotum(all green for pictipennis and the back of the head(as far as I know)and you are also right about that black marking. But a they are many other dictinct indicators an entomologist could notice.

But it is always easier to identify a species once it is adult.

Looks pretty much identical to the L3 (I think... maybe 4?) C. pictipennis that is crawling around on me right now :) Can't see her underside in this picture but she has the exact marking you picture above.

Is there a way to tell one instar from another?
