Wanting to start your own plague of Egyptian proportions?

Try the Eastern Lubber, the laughing stock of the grasshopper world.

Big, fat, clumsy, these guys start out black and in their final molt turn a vivid yellow.

Since they suck at jumping and cannot fly, they rely on toxins in their blood to detract would be predators.

The Lubbers are traditionally very soft, like a cricket and make very lovable pets. Just don't let them loose in your mum's garden!

Various instar nymphs 4$ each + shipping

Adults now 6$ each + shipping

35$ for a dozen + shipping.

PM for shipping quotes, I would prefer US but open to offers.

Also willing to trade for ooths.

Have you bred these in captivity. I am interested, just curious what the requirements are as far as husbandry goes. Florida whether is easy to provide indoors. Do you know their life cycle? Do they lay eggs in tree bark like some hopper species? PM me please, I am interested.

nice lizard food u got there

I would totally feed them to my crested and leachie but I fear the toxins would kill my poor geckos
If you are captive raising them, you are in the clear. They are among a number of critters, like "poison arrow" frogs and monarch butterflies, that derive their toxin from what they eat, so despite their warning colors, they are harmless if not provided with the lilies on which they normally feed. This is what Lady Gaga would call, "Foxin' with my toxin".

Yeah I think I feed them all the native plants they like to munch on, so definitely can't use as feeders

thats quite an interesting statement , bloodworms/fireflys are meant to be toxic to bearded dragons so i wonder if i raised a few captive they would be ok to eat !!!!!!! ha id rather not try it tho that beardie in the photo cost me 260 euro lol:eek:

My hoppers came. Thank you so much Acerbity, this is a species I would otherwise have to travel all the way down to Florida to see for myself, and here I have sixteen precious baby hoppers!

Feeding them off, toxic or not, to me is like feeding a cat to a snake.

would wanna be a big snake to eat a cat :p

acer that lego house in ur viv is genius mate lol :)
