There is currently an EU public consultation about invasive alien species. The reptile trade are very concerned about this because
they feel theresults may be used as an excuse to prohibit the keeping of non-native reptiles. And of course this might be applied to a
ban on keeping non-native insects. The general public and organisations can complete the on-line questionnaire before
April 12th 2012 so their views are recorded. The questionnaire is quite short and easy to complete. I think the general
public need to know that there is a vocal group of people who are trying to distance the connection between people
and animals. And proposals for yet more legislation restricting the movement of animals may well be used as a
means for denying people the opportunity of looking after creatures. The deadline is April 12th 2012. Here's the link
