One of my Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii female produce an ootheca near 4 inches long. Although base on my past experience not every long ooth manage a good hatching rate, it does contain lot more eggs.

Here is the one compared the recently hatched out PW ooth. It is the third ooth from the same female which is surprisingly longer.

Took a pic of her laying the long ooth, hopefully that is not the reason why her ooth is long.

Very nice, Yen! I'd be interested in hearing what hatch rate you do get from it, and how it compares to the average hatch rate of a normal size ooth of this species. ;) I wonder if any studies have been done comparing the hatch rates of any species' extra long/big ooths compared to average size ones of their respective species. Do you know?

It is difficult to predict. THis is not the first time i have ootheca this long. Here are couple pics of PW ooth taken maybe a year or two before produced by different females

Out of the many long PW oothecae I had, only one of the long one hatched out near hundred nymphs, but the rest hatched between 20-40 nymphs which appear to be low based on the size. One didn't hatch any at all.

This long one hatched out a lot i remember.
