Both of my mated, female Chinese Mantids laid an ootheca yesterday. One laid a completely unrecognizable mass on the glass wall of her aquarium. She also has quite a bit of the hardened foam on her abdomen end. Will this egg mass hatch/ will it make it through a simulated diapause (In refrigerator)? The eggs are showing on the outside unlike the normal round egg case for this species. I'm not sure if the foam on the end of her abdomen will cause problems, she somehow encased the left cercus and there is a hardened dark brown substance on her ovipositor. She seems to be able to pass droppings still although they take longer to drop. Despite the choice of sticks I gave her she still decided to lay on the wall which is why I think it failed Should I give her a choice new sticks for future ootheca since she seemed to dislike the current ones?
