After trial and error, success and failure...the first adult Gonatista griseas . These specimens were wild caught at around the L4 age and are now adults. After this male and female, I have a second pair of subs. I am not sure how I will breed them quite yet if I want to keep these two together and the succeeding pair together, or if I will swap the males. I have younger individuals as well and from the looks of it, another younger pair at L6. So these are the first adults to help get this specie back, circulating through culture. Enjoy! :D The male molted to adult on 3/3/13 and the female 3/20/13.

Thats great news! But I knew you could and would do it, congratz man, I'm wishing you some good luck on all the matings. ;)

Gorgeous! Good luck with them! Overlooked the mantis on my first scroll-down in the bark picture. I was thinking, "What? This looks like an ootheca set-up. Where's the ooth? Oh, okay, no ooth.... What am I supposed to be looking at in this picture?" And then I spotted a leg, and the rest of the body became visible. :)

I've heard of this species a couple times. Is it rare? I read that it is native to Florida. Is it going extinct in the wild, or just hard to find in people's breeding/collection set-ups?

Thanks guys and gals! A long turbulent road it has been... hopefully soon, the opportunity to keep this species will become available to y'all.

And sciencegirl, its not so much that they are rare in the wild, but mainly more difficult to find due to their perfect camo. And as of recently they were non-existent in the US culture (I don't know why, but they just dropped out) ...their set-up was a little tricky at first, but eventually was fine tuned to please these lichens of the woods.

Awesome job Andrew!!!

Can you post some pictures of your habitates? Would love to know how you set them up and maintained them. Thanks much and good luck with these beauties......
