Well i finally found my eastern hercules beetle. I have been living in delaware for almost 14 years and have looked and looked and never found one. I was going to pick up some dart frogs from a friend and stopped at a gas station to fill up. well i happened to look down and what did i se right next to the pump but a female eastern hercules beetle, at first i thought now was has to be dead. lo and behold she was alive. I will post some pics tommorrow when i take some. just had to share my excitement.

Congratulations! That is a long time... Hope he lives up to your expectations... LOL

Yes, post pics...

Yeah, I find them in gas stations. Usually females. I do not have any fermented wood dirt for them to lay eggs in! I also found a female Phileurus truncatus last night and it might need the same type of dirt. :(

I never miss stopping at a gas station in a rural area or a rest stop. Great places to catch bugs! She probably going to drop some eggs for you if you put her down on dirt too.
