She took down a big fly!  She was hungry!  How many flies do they eat per day?  Should I offer more? 20180613_100025.jpg

Congratulations on the successful molt! As for flies, offer as many as it takes to get her abdomen to plump up. Do you plan on breeding her, and do you know for sure she’s Female?

Thanks!  I actually do not know for sure if she is a female.  I requested females from the breeder.  I do not have plans of breeding, I am pretty new to this.  Right now I am just trying to keep these 3 ghosts alive and manage my nymphs from the 2 ooth that just hatched (I ordered ooth before I ordered the ghosts (got impatient waiting on them to hatch :)  ).

So, as an update.  1 ghost did eat most of the house fly.  The other one killed it and dropped it, so she is now on her 4th melanogaster (her abdomen was flat, I knew she had to be hungry).  Wonder why she rejected the fly.

Cute! That does look like a big meal! I love to watch mantids catch their prey. ;)

I dont actually call them by their names that I have given them yet... I have named them Blanche, Sophia, and Dorothy (my name is Rose).  ?

My mantids have names. I am givinging my mantids names after I have ordered them. Then they are not chosen yet to send to my home. Only for my male Hierodula Membranocea I couldn't find a name, A friend chose his name.

I name all of mine too. Although I have not picked names for 8 of the budwings yet because they are still too small.
