Hey guys. My Aeruginosa female, Xena, just layed her first ooth. It looks really crazy, and anyone following the "He just... wont connect" thread knows I haven't seen them conected longer than a second, but there was the one night where I woke up and they were separated. They may have mated, they may not have. Anyway here's some pictures of mommy and her ooth. Its a crazy spiral shape lol.

Now the general consensus I've seen around here is you can't tell if an ooth is fertile from the outside. You can tell if its in rough shape, but rough shape can still hatch. A couple people though have been saying there are ways to tell. I was wondering if one of the breeder Gurus could step in and give me the final word on if you can tell or not, and if you can: does this one look at all good?

Yeah that looks pretty infertile to me...now wait a day or two and then try mating again, hopefully he'll do his part this time ;)

It wasn't anchored very well. just on the plastic not any screen, and when I checked on her it had fallen onto the moss substrate. Guess I don't get to wait the week for it to harden to remove it.

She layed again last night :) Would explain why the male wouldnt connect lol. This one looks better formed, more puffy, but smaller. She's eating her second superworm right now. I think I'll put the male in another room for a few days while she recovers and then re-introduce. They've been in the same screen terrarium for over a week now. I've seen him jump on a few times, but haven't witnessed any more connections.
