First Phidippus!

Finally, I found my first Phidippus spider! Been looking for one for a while. I wasn't even looking, was sweeping on my patio and noticed a black spider. Caught it, still not knowing what it was, just knew I've never photographed one of these before. It wasn't after I started taking these closeups that I realize I finally got a Phidippus johnsoni

Very cool spider Peter! I found a zebra striped one the other day and it scared me half to death because they move so quickly! And I'm a baby......

Yeah, I know this one is more than capable of biting me. My wife was cool about it scampering around on the kitchen counter (after it jumped off the plant). Spiders don't scare her, but worms are w's and slugs are too evil to speak of!

Ha! I have a male counterpart from probably the same locale. Is she looking for love?

I think it was in amongst the Spanish moss ingeniously used as packing material. It was just a tiny little thing and it evaded me. I took the box, and moss out into the garage. A month or so later I found this unusual looking (and larger) jumping spider in the garage.
