Their wings are the same orange and black or grayish with yellow flecks, on my brown girls. My lighter girls have only orange and yellow, some with transparent and yellow. All my Carolinas have that black area between the forelegs. :)

I can't seem to get mine to threat pose when they are adult, I am envious. But they don't hesitate when they are nymphs.

Lol it definitely suprized me. Mostly when she wacked my finger.
I like it when they whack. :D

Most of mine will just let me pet them. Sometimes, I think that they are actually tame, if that is possible for an insect.

I pet my mantids all the time. They dont mind it at all. She was hanging upside down on my computer screen in those pics. All i did to piss her off was put my finger in front of her to get her off the screen. I was leaving and i dident want 1 of my 4 cats to get a hold of her while i was gone. She stayed that way for a whole 5 min. I got a nice video of her wacking me.

My mantids won't hold the display for more than a few seconds, not even long enough to pull my phone from its holster.

I would love to see the whacking video. ;)

Humans getting whacked will never cease to amuse me, as long as the human is gentle and not harming the creature.
