First time mating ghosts

All of my ghosts but one have reached adult. Since none of my ghosts are aggressive eaters and they have been kept together since they were nymphs, i decided last night to put Phanes(m) and Nyx(f) together in the same enclosure. when i got home from work a little bit ago he had mounted her but there is no connection. My male molted kinda wierd, his butt sticks up in the air and his wings hang to the side

Does anyone think this will be a problem for him when it comes to actually connecting?





this is also the only adult male i have, so technically i dont even know if his wings are actually supposed to look like that....i just assume they arent. any ideas?

update, i blew on them gently and he tried to connect but his wings are very much in the way.... how do i fix this???

His wings are perfect. I'm not sure about his abdomen, though...

his wings look perfect they just hang to the side, and his booty sticks straight up. but i watched him try to connect and if his wings hung to right instead of the left they wouldnt be in the way

Wait . . . so his abdomen curves around the wings? That doesn't look right, D_Hemptress. . . I think that it's his abdomen that is the problem. Since it dried curved upwards, maybe it can't curve around.

i wish i could get video if it, he can curl his abdomen, ive seen it. but because his wings dried to the left, which is the direction he is bending his abdomen, he just keeps trying to connect with the top of his wings thinking its her... its hard to explain

Oh, okay. Thanks for the info - that helped! Try moving his abdomen around/down with a chopstick or something.

uh ya, this little guy doesn tlike me touching him, i tried that, he is super skittish, maybe ill try later in the dark when its quiet.....idk

Hmmm... I'm not sure what other advice to give...

Have you talked to Paradoxica?

Just physically hold the wings up (like use tweezers or forceps to lift them, don't actually grab them) when he tries to reach...or you could also gently move the females abdomen up so he can curve beneath nd get the right spot..

ive done that, he doesnt like me to touch him, he freaks out

Just tossing this out there as a suggestion

No clue if it would actually help or not ???

But how about taking a mist bottle & getting his wings really soaking wet

Then trying to get them to dry in somewhat of a better position
