This is the first time I've attempted mantid breeding. I've been waiting 2 weeks since my S. limbata matured. Tonight was the night, I was going to hope for the best. Introduced the female to the male's cage. They just stood there for half an hour looking at each other. Finally the female slowly approaches the male. When she's about an inch away he flies on top of her. A couple minutes pass and they start to get busy, I'm so excited! :) They started at 7pm, 3.5 hours later, they are still connected. Mantids sure do take their precious time when mating.

Congratulations on your mating success. :D

I'm getting ready to mate my Stagmomantis limbatas tonight. I tried with a pair earlier in the day but nothing happened. The female was ready, not the male. Tonight I will use a different male.

It's the beginning of the Holiday weekend. The Mantids don't have to work, so yes, lots of love making this weekend. B)

Lots of mantid love happening tonight!
Finally my limbatas are mating. I used a different male and they started late last night. They are still connected this morning! This was my first time ever mating. I was so nervous at first, didn't know what to do, then I just relaxed and went with the flow. B)

Love is in the air lately

Congrats to everyone, we should have tons of babies soon :)

So, they've been at it for 6 hours, it was time for bed. Don't know how long they stayed connected after that. Woke up this morning, can't find the male anywhere, guess she got hungry. Oh well, he fulfilled his life's destiny, so I'm not too sad. Here's a pic of the pair.
