i got a 500+ fly casings, and they are hatiching like maad. i have about 30+ flies just sitting there in the container, and all i have is 5 l3 mantids. how can i slow the hatching?

i dont need all of them at once, i was hoping i can just throw em in the fridge until i need more, any suggestions? btw i dont want to kill these flies, i just want them to stop hatching!

The refrigerator! Unhatched fly pupae can sit in the fridge for around 2 weeks, in my experience, and still hatch just fine when you need them. Just take out what you need a day or two before you need them. Some people have shared about keeping them successfully alive for extended periods of time after they hatch, but I personally haven't had much luck with that. Good luck!

Yep. Store maggots and pupa in the fridge. Take out what you need. Eventually you will learn how long it takes for them to hatch and how quickly you use them. One you get the timing down you will know when to pull more from the fridge so that you have a constant food supply ready.

Murphy's law of Mantid food: When you don't need them, the flies hatch out by the hundreds...when you DO need them, they don't hatch out at all!
