Vonones ornata “Fl Ornate Harvestman”

Picture389.jpg

Above: Vonones ornate feeding on cricket.

This is a very exciting species for those who like communal non-aggressive/defensive arachnids. Harvestmen are arachnids however they are not spiders. They’re absolutely harmless and they don’t produce any foul odors. I have over 100 adults in my colony. Feeding is easy, pre-kill a few crickets and put them in the enclosure- they’ll do the rest. This species of harvestman is a scavenger which makes feeding a breeze. There is definitely communication amongst members, just like the tailless whipscorpions. Anyway, you won’t be disappointed with this species. Breeding is simple with this species too, just offer some moist egg crate and they’ll do the rest!

This is guaranteed to be a hardy species. This stock is from South Florida. Many harvestmen wane when kept too warm. Not this species, anything under 90 degrees is fine.
