Hi All,

First time poster here. My brother and I just jumped into mantids, me with C. gemmatus and he with H. membranacea we got from Ken the Bug Guy. I have kept herps for a few decades, but never mantids. Great service, by the way from Ken...sent me the wrong species first, and then sent the right one at his expense, second day air, immediately to make it right.

Anyway...I ain't no Igor S. (who is...jeez that guy can shoot), but I have some fairly decent equipment, so here's a shot of my gemmatus (L4?) I beefed up in saturation and ran a filter over in Photoshop, as it wasn't quite as sharp as I'd like. Hope you like it...kinda artsy I guess...but I like it.

Anyway...hello.

Nice photo! My C. gemmatus molted to adulthood almost a month ago, watch out, they love to fly into faces / fans / cat mouths / lights / blenders, etc! ;)
