I have been trying to mate my P. chlorophaea for three days. They have been adults for a month and are definately ready to mate. The male will mount the female, but the female will not keep still and since he is about the same length she is he can't really get on top of her and positions his legs on the ground behind her. She keeps walking, forcing him to walk along and drags himself across so he is forced to let go before he can even connect. Both the females do this and at times the male won't even notice the female because she keeps crawling and will not rock back and forth to attract his sexual attention. I have been at this for at least 6 hours a day and they just won't mate. I have left the male and female in the same cage for two days and still nothing. They are on opposite sides of the cage and when they notice each other, strike at each other.

 Did anyone else experience these problems when mating P. chlorophaea? I am ready to just tear my hair out and run around screaming.

I've had that issue with other kinds. Give her something to eat while he mounts her. If that doesn't work you simply have to wait until she is more receptive. I have had females that did that but after waiting awhile longer they stopped doing it.

I've tried giving her something to eat. The male didn't start mating right away and by the time he started making movements towards mating, she was already finished with her meal and ready to take off crawling again.

I guess I'll have to wait longer. I wasted so much time today trying to mate them. :(

I swear my texicorns are plotting against me or something. <_<

Tried again today. They've been adults for at least a month. Male mounted at least ten times. Female would not stay still and dragged him all over the place. She managed to get him off her no matter what.

Then, I finally switched to another, calmer female. He mounted several times. She would stay still, but would use her forearms to pry his off of her neck. While doing this, he freaks out and repositions his forearms. He stupidly placed them under her head and she chewed off one of his sticky feet.

I placed them both on a fake tree in my room. They immediately calmed down. Then, I poked the male and he walked a little more and sensed the female in front of him. He mounted, she didn't move, she didn't knock him off. I quickly ran to get her a cricket in case she decided to move. I came back and gave her it. The male stayed on her. A few minutes later, he let go with one of his forearms and seemed to forget he mounted. Then he let go with the other forearm and crawled off of her. <_< Right when everything actually was going to work, he forgets and walks away! UGH. I give up with this species.
